sleep paralysis

Sleep paralysis is a feeling of being conscious but unable to move. Science tells us that the phenomenon is connected to muscle atonia (a type of paralysis that happens during REM sleep). In short, you have become conscious but your body is (erroneously) locked in place, due to the bodies natural safety mechanisms. In metaphysical circles, sleep paralysis is thought to be caused by a visitation or spiritual attack.
